A group of poets discuss their initial encounters with Latinx and Latin American poetry and art in this first iteration of Poetry Society of America’s roundtable. Here, Tejada describes the time of his late youth, growing up within the punk underground scene of Los Angeles during the early 1980s. He specifically notes how this time influenced and developed his capacity to question dominant historical narratives at a relatively early point. Participants in this three-part roundtable also include Maria Melendez, Raina Leon, Hope Maxwell Snyder, Albino Carillo, Felicia Gonzalez, Mark Smith-Soto, Blas Falconer, Juan Morales, Emma Trelles, and elena minor.
